In Tim Schmidts music the landscape meets the metropolis.
Swedish born Tim Schmidt´s musical language is ranging from folk to soundscapes. In the early years compared to Nick Drake, Michael Hurley and Jeff Buckley... and of late: his live recorded sessions of organic folk music been in more and more entangled like an evolution a succession of time led to tapes, soundtracks in a pumporgan-fueled web of cinematic tales that perhaps connects his experiences from countrysides and metropolises, without apparent order.
In these varied instrumental and mantra driven solo-instrumentals are backed by baritone doo-whops and old-time twang. Delievered with an naïvety in line with personalities like John Lurie, Daniel Johnston and Philip Guston. His earlier landscape portraits are now crossed with images of the metropolis.
Schmidt has toured extensively across Europe and released 5 albums on indie-labels in Canada, Germany and Sweden. Be sure to tune in to his remarkably intimate catalogue of recordings.
